CAP: 3 - 8cm in diameter.
The golden yellowy orange cap is slightly fibrous and has a faintly grooved margin. The centre of the cap can be usually darker with olivaceous tone. The cap is also hygrophanous. Microscopy of the cap cuticle can be necessary to confirm the ID. STIPE: White, even and striate. Yellowish tinge from base upwards. The whole stem can become tinged pinkish as spores land on it. GILLS/PORES: Gills are free, pale pink and edged with yellow. FLESH: Thin, whitish and with no significant taste or smell. SPORES: Pink, smooth and sub-globose. HABITAT: On stumps and fallen trunks of broadleaf trees, grows more singly than closely related species. SEASON: Occasional. Late
summer to autumn. EDIBILITY: Inedible. |
